ATM SUBSCRIPTIONS
The initiative is reserved for Structured Teaching Staff (full professors, associate professors, researchers), Technical-administrative Staff with fixed-term and permanent employment contracts, research fellows and PhD students. Contract teachers, interns, students or other forms of collaboration are excluded.
For the categories of Structured Teaching Staff and Technical-Administrative Staff only, the University automatically recognizes the Mobility Contribution, i.e. a further 35% discount on the cost of tickets, up to a maximum of € 258,23 per year (even in the case of a double subscription).
VALIDITY OF AFFILIATED SUBSCRIPTIONS
ATM passes are nominative, valid for 12 months only and allow an unlimited number of trips, 7 days a week, on:
- the entire network managed by ATM and other private operators affiliated to ATM;
- on the sections of the railway network managed by Trenord included in the STIBM Area (Mobility Basin Tariff System).
The start of validity of the annual subscription is always on the first day of the month. The new subscription can be made in any moment of the year, according to the scheduled deadlines.
NEW SUBSCRIPTIONS OR RENEWALS
The user interested in the new subscription or renewal of an annual ATM subscription with the Politecnico di Milano/ATM agreement must directly insert request in the dedicated application, available on: Online Services > “Concessions and Agreements” > “Richiesta abbonamenti ATM”.

SUBSCRIPTION PAYMENT METHOD
The Administration proceeds with the pre-purchase of annual passes and operates as it follows:
- For the Technical Administrative Staff (with fixed-term and permanent contracts) and for the Structured Teaching Staff (Full Professors, Associate Professors, Researchers), the recovery of costs takes place through withholding in the pay slip starting from the starting month validity of the travel document until its natural expiry (annual pass cost/12).
- For Research Fellows and PhD students, if beneficiaries of a research grant or a scholarship, the costs are recovered by withholding them in the pay slip starting from the month of validity of the travel document until the total cost is saturated (annual subscription cost/3).
- For Research Fellows and PhD students, if not beneficiaries of a research grant or a scholarship, costs are recovered by bank transfer by the holder according to the methods specified by the Administration (single solution).
It is necessary for the Personnel to be on active duty on the date on which the annual pass starts.
In the event of termination of the contract, if the annual subscription was signed up in the previous year, the Administration will charge the remaining monthly payments on the last payslip, preserving all the benefits. In case of incapacity of the last payslip, the employee will pay the remaining payments by bank transfer to the University. If the annual subscription was signed in the same year, it is possible to request early termination to the Administration (view Additional services).
DELIVERY METHOD
Once the ATM pass is managed by ATM, users will receive instructions from the Administration and the purchase receipt from ATM. In case of checks by authorities, the receipt has to be shown with the valid electronic card.
In case of first subscription, once the ATM pass is available, the Administration will send a specific communication with the collection instructions. The distribution is held in one of the following locations, according to the employee’s choice:
Milano Leonardo: Portineria Centrale
Milano Bovisa: Servizio Gestione del Patrimonio Edilizio.
In case of impossibility to go personally, it is possible to delegate another person, communicating their name to the e-mail box abbonamenti-trasporti@polimi.it. The electronic card is valid for four years, therefore the new issue will only take place upon first subscription and after its natural expiry.
In case of renewal, activations can be done through:
- The totems present in all metro stations, by placing the document on the display;
- The parking meters present in Milan (the list of which is available at the following link: https://giromilano.atm.it/#/home/), according to the methods illustrated in the guide: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QrKQ27udQD4 .
DUPLICATE REQUEST
You can request the release of a duplicate of your electronic card at any time, because of loss, theft or damage. It is necessary to go to any ATM Point, bringing a copy of purchase receipt for the annual pass in use. The duplicate has an issuing cost of €15.00 to be paid on site.
